Function and Evolution of Rapid Color Change

In an attempt to gain a better understanding of the factors promoting the evolution of rapid color change as a social signal, we recently completed a field study of 13 distinct lineages of dwarf chameleon (genus Bradypodion) in South Africa. Data collected from this trip will provide insights into the evolution of color change, color types, and color patterns, specifically with respect to behavioral displays employed by chameleons during social interactions.
